Did you know that all foods are not created equal?




In this Help Sheet, you will learn to differentiate between labels in order to lose weight and eat healthy at the same time.


Nutrition Label Information:



-Serving Size influences the number of calories you will be consuming.

-Calories are energy. However, if you consume too many calories without using them, they become fat buildup and lead to obesity.

-Avoid excessive fats, cholesterol and sodium, as they can lead to chronic diseases, high blood pressure, and cancer.

-However, vitamins and minerals found in foods increase your health and reduce diseases. These nutrients can be consumed in more readily ammounts than the ones you want to avoid. They only make you healthier.



Weight Loss and Nutrition:


It is important to maintain a healthy balance between weight loss and nutrition in your lifestyle. With an imbalance, such as malnutrition during weight reduction, serious medical issues can arise.

In order to maintain a healthy balance, one must know what to consume, and what to stay away from when comparing food products.

-Limit, but do not eliminate, all fats, cholesterol, and sodium intake.

-Be sure to take in alot of vitamin,s minerals, and dietary fiber. These help prevent health issues, and actually help in gastric diseases as well as aid in weight loss.

-Low fat, high protein, and high vitamins/minerals are the best way to maintain a healthy balance between nutrition and weight loss.

Water is Life...

Water is an essential for life. It is everywhere. In the air, in the oceans, in the ground, in you. Water composes more than 3/4 of Earth's surface. Water also composes more han half of your body.




Though water is so plentiful within yoursaelves, it is opften a misconceived thing. Here are some facts about water and the body.

1. Water is the medium in which all bodily fluids are dissolved, including blood, and urine.

2. Water lubricates the joints of the body.

3. Water aids in degestion: breaking down food, and helping move it along the intestinal tract by lubricating the intestines.

4. Water is the basis of the body's "cooling system", in the form of sweat.

5. Water provides a base in which wastes can be removed.






Thus, water is an essential to life. However, there are some myths about water as well.

1.Myth: "Forget water. I'm beter off drinking soda."

Truth: Everything within the body is amde from water. Without water, one cannot survive more than a week, depending on surrounding conditions.

2. Myth: "Drinking water can't cause health problems."

Truth: Water itself cannot harm you, only benefit you. However, other chemicals, both natural and man-made, cant get into the water supply (contamination) and cause problems. Another natural contaminant of water is bacteria and viruses, which can cause health problems. This is why why can be purified and screened, to reduce all of the aforementioned things.

Dehydration:
Dehydration is when a person loses more fluid than they consume.

Two ways to battle dehydration are:
1. Consume water before, during, and after any physical activity or exercise. During the activity, be sure to hydrate yourself at a regular pace.
2. Consume foods with lots of water in them, such as fruits and vegetables. This helps maintain the water balance in your body without having to drink large ammounts of water directly.
